Varian Medical Systems

We have constructed and refurbished bunkers for the installation of various Varian Linear Accelerator machines used in the treatment of cancer. We have provided these installations in over 30 NHS Trusts across the length and breadth of England, 4 Health Boards in Scotland and 2 Veterinary Centres.

The projects have varied in complexity and incorporate all spheres of normal construction activities in addition to the specialist constraints necessary to meet the requirements of the radiation protection standards laid down. Here at Rocare we have been working with architects over many years ensuring that at the first stages of any build take into account the specification of radiation protection products. Architects often need to think about lead lined materials when creating Radiotherapy, X-ray and CT rooms.

With our extensive supply chain we can work with Trusts and architects to ensure the right products are used for the job. Considerations such as size limitations, materials, finishes, architectural details, RPA suggestions, must all be carefully analysed during the design of radiation areas, all of which can be aided by our supply chain professionals.

New for 2024... continuing refurbishment works include Addenbrooke's in Cambridge, Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff and hospitals in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Newcastle, Mount Vernon and Truro to name a few.
